Default just a thought before going into the game deep

Is it true that monk/mesmer do not need really top notch equipments except those that increase energy and armor? It is because it occurs to me that monk/mesmer is more like a supportive hero. As a result, a monk/mesmer character don't really need a heavy armor and good weapon that deals good damage like warrior. So, that's why i choose to be become a monk/mesmer because a good decent armour for a monk/mesmer character is cheaper to get comparing to other character especially warrior. I saw in some threads somewhere else that a good felblade costs about 100-200k..gulp..so if i add up the total cost of a good set equipment for a melee character that makes me to survive in a PvP match. I guess it going to cost me a fortune. .It is just some thoughts from me, is it true? What is the comments from you all?

End game armor for all classes essentially cost the same amount, with some variation based on current market prices for the required crafting materials. The (mild) exceptions are tattoos/scars, which cost slightly less.

All players should aim to have maximum level AL by the south shiverpeaks. In particular, enemies (pve) and more importantly, opposing players (pvp) generally target monks first. As a monk, expect to be hit, and hit often - perhaps more so than any other profession. So do yourself and your team a favour and do not scrimp on armor.

While you do have somewhat of a point regarding weapons, in that casters are less reliant on their weapons than melee characters, at least to a degree, be aware that the highly sought after monk/caster items, that feature additional energy, skill recharge, casting speed, and other mods, command a very high price.

Thankfully, as with weapons, if you are frugally minded there are perfectly servicable items available from collectors in the desert and south shiverpeaks that do not neccessitate you spending loads of money on.
